I Survived!

Well I survived my first "post-Ben" 5K....and I am feeling pretty good today! I ran it in 28 minutes and 22 seconds. I would have been under 28 minutes, but Henry ran the last little bit with me and I eventually had to carry him across the finish line because he was dragging. When we finished, he said he was sooo tired and thirsty! I said, how do you think Mommy feels? He just laughed. So I did it and I am happy to have done halfway decent.

Bike Wash

Yesterday Henry wanted to wash his bike. He LOVES to help G wash the car & jeep, so he knows the process. This was WAY too cute to not get pictures of....

Big Boy Underwear

Yesterday and today Henry has worn big boy underpants...on his own. He asked to wear them and we said, okay! Yesterday was only in the morning, but he did good...I asked every 15 minutes if he needed to go to the bathroom. Today HE has told me TWICE that he has had to go! I am SOOO happy because he is wanting to do this. We have talked and talked about big boy underwear and I had purchased the CARS underwear a while back and hoped by the end of the summer he would want to wear them. He wore Ramone yesterday and today he has on Luigi & Guido. He takes them off, just so he can see the back of them. TOO FUNNY. He is napping right now...in underwear...yes, I am prepared to do laundry, but he instisted on wearing them and went to the bathroom right before going down for his nap. (we "pee on flowers" a lot around here...Henry, not me!) He has yet to poop on the potty, so we'll see how this goes. I am just going with it since he wants to wear them. He told me he doesn't want to pee or poop on Luigi & Guido, so that is a good sign! He'll be in a diaper tonight...this kid wakes up with a SUPER wet diaper, so I am not about to try overnight just yet. Check out my cutie of a big boy...doesn't he seem SO tall!?!?!

One of my favorite people, my friend Kelly, came to see us!! Yesterday, Kelly came from Kansas City for a meeting here in St. Louis and she stopped to have lunch with us and hang out for a little bit. The visit was WAY too short, but we don't get to see each other that often, so we'll take what we can get. Henry enjoyed getting tickled by Aunt Kelly and he showed her all of his cars and trucks. (Much different toys from the "girly" toys her nieces play with.) Ben got to flirt and snuggle with Aunt Kelly and even snoozed as she held him. I remembered to take a picture before she had to leave. We can't wait to see you again Kelly! Hopefully before you and Justin tie the knot.

Around Our House

Things are kind of crazy around our house these days, but we are loving it! Monday and Tuesday it was just Ben & Mommy since Henry was at the sitter. I enjoy the time I get to spend with just Ben. He is so much more awake and is looking around at things and starting to find his hands and kick his feet when he gets excited. He continues to be a GREAT eater (much easier to nurse than Henry) and a pretty good sleeper at night. Ben makes all the squeaks and noises we don't remember Henry making. He is very gassy too, which cracks me up at 3 am when I am feeding him. Here are some pictures from the last couple of days.

Running

So this post is about me...Kara...it won't have pictures of my cute kids, so if you don't want to read it, you don't have to. Today I was allowed to start running again...6 weeks since I had little Ben. I just ran around our neighborhood, 2 miles, and it took me about 23 minutes. Not my best time, but it sure felt GREAT! I only walked 3 times and I made myself run up the "hills" we have...which are only inclines, but felt as if I was climbing Mt. Everest. Those of you who have given birth know that after a baby, you have things that move and shake that never did before. After #2 even MORE stuff moves and shakes and aches. BUT I DID IT...I got out and ran and I feel good about it. I am signed up for a 5K this Sunday. You might remember that after having Henry I decided to run 30 5K races by my 30th birthday and I did. I got pretty good and my best time was at this same race last year...23:23. I know that my time will NOT be even close to that, but it's a flat and fast course and my only goal is to not come in last. I just thought I would share...more pictures will come later. I am ready for a nap now...after a shower since it's super MUGGY here in St. Louis today. So if you read this, thanks...and think happy running thoughts for me on Sunday morning!

Ben's First Wedding

Saturday we (me, G, & Ben) went to Springfield for my friend Manden's wedding. Henry stayed the night with Zee-Zee and had a BLAST! Here is Ben with Daddy & Mommy at the reception. He was a VERY good boy for his first wedding!

Henry has a friend named Jordan...he calls her George. Even though Jordan is 5, they have LOTS of fun together. We were at Jordan's house Friday night for dinner and she took Henry for a "ride" in her John Deere car.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day G! You are a GREAT husband and FANTASTIC father! Henry & Ben are very lucky to have you as their Daddy. You are the best. I am thankful that I have you to wake up to every morning (and right now, 2 or 3 times each night!) and as my best friend. Thanks for being you and loving me, Henry, & Ben with all of your heart.

Sunday June 15

We spent Sunday morning at the Boat Dock Cafe where the BIG carp live. Henry LOVED seeing the fish! We then left around 11:00 to head home. When we got back, we went to Zee-Zee's house for a YUMMY dinner and Henry's favorite dessert to celebrate Father's Day, cake & ice cream. What a special Father's Day for Papa (first father's day with 5 kids & 2 grandkids!) and for G (first father's day with 2 sons!).

First Trip

Friday afternoon our family of 4 headed to Rogers, AR to see Nana, Papa, Uncle Will, Aunt Erin, and Uncle Max (visiting from Portland). We left Turbo with Zee-Zee, as this was our first trip with 2 kids! Henry & Ben both did GREAT and I have to say, the over 6 hour car ride on Friday afternoon/evening, was not that bad! Yesterday we had lots of "Sunday drivers" and G got VERY frustrated, but we made it home safely. Here are some pictures from the weekend, which included fishing, kayaking, swimming, seeing friends, Henry learning to golf, and watching BIG fish (carp).
