Sleeping Children

As a parent, there is nothing better than watching your child sleep. Last night, both Henry & Ben looked extra cute sleeping, so I snapped some pictures. Yes, Henry has on shoes and only a diaper for bed...it's one of those times that it wasn't worth the fight. These are two precious little ones that I love more than I can put into words.

Marion, Ohio

Saturday July 26, the 4 Mohrmanns left St. Louis for Ohio...by airplane! It was Ben's first trip on a plane and Henry's 6th! We had to buy 3 tickets since Henry is over 2 years, so he had his own seat and loved it. My 94 year old grandma lives about 45 minutes from the Columbus airport, so we had to rent a car and a carseat for Henry (which was over an hour of drama!), but we arrived in Marion around 5:45 pm. We were there only until Monday, but below is a summary of our trip in pictures.

Swimming & Fishing

I took Henry & Ben down to Arkansas for 2 days to visit family & friends down there. We left Tuesday at nap time and returned on Thrusday at nap time. Wednesday we got to see my "basketball girls", 2 of them anyway and their kids. We went swimming and ate pizza. Henry & Ben were the only guys. Avery & Adelyn came from Texas and Adelaide lives in Rogers and today is a big sister...Baby Mabel arrived this afternoon! We enjoyed our visit....Thursday morning was spend on the dock at my parents house. Henry and my dad (Papa) went fishing, but didn't have any luck. Today was my laundry and repack day, as we leave tomorrow at 12:45 pm for our flight to Ohio. We are visiting my grandma for a few days and will also get to see my cousin Cory, his wife Chris and their newest addition, Jillian (born 2.10.08). We have been busy and it's been lots of fun!

Road Trip

Below are some tips for traveling by car, just you and 2 kids (one 2.5 years and one 10 weeks), and no DVD player.
Be prepared to:
1. Sing LOTS and LOTS (making up songs is a favorite with Henry).
2. Hold your urge to pee because both kids are asleep and you know that stopping will wake at least one of them.
3. Give a bottle to a rear facing infant while driving down I-44 at 75 mph.
4. Find the lost Johnny Bear with directions from your 2.5 year old because you are driving and cannot turn around. "Next to your arm Mommy." Means on the floor under the books and various other cars that have been dumped out.
5. Hear "Are we there yet?" more times than you care to count.
6. Throw snacks at the 2.5 year old so he'll stop asking "Are we there yet?"
7. Ignore crying, from both children, usually at the same time.
8. Have a 5 hour trip take more like 6.5 with many more stops than you thought possible.
9. Use the rearview mirror to watch what your children are doing.
10. Tell the 2.5 year old ot stop throwing things (raisins, crackers, blankets) at the 10 week old.
11. Arrive home safely to your loving husband and thank the Good Lord that you have 2 healthy little guys.

Fun Weekend

This weekend we went to Pleasant Hill and also Blue Springs. We left Satruday afternoon at nap time and came back today (Sunday). We spend Saturday with G's college roommate, Sam and his wife Stephanie. They had their annual summertime party and Henry had a blast playing with the other kids and getting to eat lots of snacks. We stayed the night there and today got to play on Lake Tapawingo in Blue Springs with the Whartons and Finks. We usually make the trip around the 4th of July when Uncle Scott & Aunt Tera come to visit, but with Henry having his tonsils out July 1, we couldn't make it then. Henry enjoyed swimming with Cole, Emma, and Alli and Ben got to snuggle with Sara, Stacy and also Cara. (Cara is due any day now and is SOOO ready for Boy to make his arrival.) We had a fun weekend and it was nice to get away, but also nice to come home and see our Turbo dog. On Tuesday Henry, Ben, and myself are heading to Arkansas to see my Dad (Mom is in Canada), brother, and sister-in-law. Gotta love road trips!
