Half Marathon

Today I finished a half marathon! WOOHOOO!! I ran the Atlanta Half Marathon in 2004 and ran it in 2 hours 5 minutes. My goal today was 1:45. I didn't make that goal (ran it in 2:02), but my hip started hurting around mile 5. I didn't have any aches or pains in my training so this hip pain is a mystery. I rallied around mile 8 when I saw my 3 sweet boys and mother-in-law cheering me on. But it wasn't enough to get me to the finish in time. I am proud of myself and now I have to run another half marathon so that I can make it in 1 hour 45 minutes!

My race number

Signs made for me by John Schneller....thanks John!

Henry & Ben the night before the race. Henry & his Daddy started putting up the signs in the middle of the week. A few each day at different places around the house. Very good way to get me motivated and excited for my race!

Don't look at the shirtless guy....check out me on the right. I was too fast for Rae who was taking the picture! (just kidding about running too fast!)

After the finish....me, Rae, & Henry

Check out Ben...he was sound asleep on our walk from the finish line to the car. Both Ben & Henry were VERY good spectators according to G & Rae.

Me & my number 1 fan! (and Henry trying to get in the picture!)

Upclose picture of my medal, or the throwing star as I call it because it's VERY sharp & pointy!

Way to go, Kara! I know it's disappointing to not make the time you wanted to run, but you still have a new PR and that's never a bad thing. Good job!
