With all the concern, going to doctors and the ER with Ben, you may have wondered what his big brother HENRY has been up to! Well I would be glad to fill you in! Let me first share a little bit about Henry's story.
January 15, 2006 was my first, original, due date with my first born. In August 2005 we had our 20 week ultrasound where we could have found out the sex, but chose to wait. At that ultrasound, it was determined that I was closer to 22 weeks along and my due date was officially moved up 10 days to January 5, 2006. I decided the doctors really don't know, only God does and told myself that our little Peanut (as we called the baby in womb) would probably arrive sometime between the 5th and 15th.
Fast forward to New Years Day 2006....it was a Sunday and after going to church with G, his mom and grandma, we went out for brunch. Little did we know this would be our last kid-less meal! It was a gorgeous day, probably in the high 40's and sunny. Once we got home, G decided to wash the car and I thought about cleaning, but opted to lay down on the couch to catch a 10 minute nap. As I went to lay down.....POP....I immediately knew my water had broken. It was 1:05pm. I ran to the bathroom and just continued to have clear amniotic fluid gush out. I got some dry clothes on and walked outside to tell G it was GO TIME! I still remember the look on his face....seriously, now? Right NOW? "Let me finish washing the car, it will only take a minute" was the response he gave.
So off to St. John's we went...me sitting on a lot of towels, not feeling any contractions yet. We called my parents and his mom on the way. We arrived at the ER since it was a holiday and got right up to the Labor & Delivery floor. We were in a room right away and settled in. I felt great because I couldn't feel any contractions! Once they started an IV and some pitocin, I wasn't a happy camper! But everything happened fast once I had my epidural. Rae came to the hospital and sat with us for a bit in our room. Once I got super uncomfortable from the pain, she went to the waiting room. Around 7:45pm my parents arrived....they came to say hi then right to the waiting room...it wouldn't be much longer!
At 8:27pm, our little HENRY WILLIAM was born weighing 8lbs. 6oz. and 20 3/4 inches long. I only pushed a handful of times. I was thankful for the drugs and my husband for being by my side, encouraging me and telling me I was strong and I could do it!
At Henry's 4 year check up, he fell into the 90th - 95th percentile for both height and weight. We knew he was a bigger kid.....everyone thinks he is in kindergarten already. He is healthy and happy, at most times a big know-it all. He is very independent and wants to do things his way. He loves Batman and the movie CARS. He eats most foods, but told me the other night that spaghetti was gross.....then ate a TON of it, without noodles. He is a wonderful big brother, most of the time, and when he tells me he loves me all the way past space and back, I get a lump in my throat. He still takes a 2 hour nap every afternoon and sleeps in a pull-up at night. He is wanting to stay dry all night so he can wear his batman underwear to bed, but we have only had a few dry nights here and there.
Henry still enjoys his school that he goes to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. He learns so much and always behaves at school. (I think he uses all of his being good at school because at home, he can be a real challenge!) He answers our phone and carries on conversations like a real little boy! He is growing up so fast!
So that is the update on Henry. He did get 2 shots while at the doctor last week for his well visit. He told the nurse, "Don't worry, it won't hurt because I'll take it like a man." Wonder who taught him that? Good thing Daddy took him to the check-up and not Mommy!
Have a great weekend everyone!

What a sweet little man. I really think I should probably meet both of your boys in person soon! I feel like I already know them!
Hey Kara! Love the little update on your little guy! How sweet! Aren't these little ones, the greatest and sweetest and most precious things alive!?! Not to mention the most difficult! : )
I hadn't checked your blog in a while...I'm glad I did tonight!! I'm giving praise to the Lord right now that little Ben is doing good and that everything was NEGATIVE and NORMAL. ; )
