River to River Relay

Yesterday G and I (along with 6 others) participated in the River to River Relay across southern Illinois. It's an 80 mile, 8 person relay that we have done in 2007 and 2009. This year our team was made up of myself, G, Shelly, Cary, Steve, Gary, Mark, and Jim. Below are some pictures from our day. We started at 7:45am and crossed teh finish line at 7:10pm. Our official time was 11 hours, 25 minutes, and 19 seconds. The finish line closes at 8pm, so we had 50 minutes to spare!

Mark, G, Cary, Steve, and Gary waiting for Shelly to finish her first leg.

All smiles....so far!

Jim (otherwise known as JD, Bob, or Enterprise Guy) handing off to Gary.

Gary handing off to Steve

Steve finishing his first leg, handing off to G.

The only girls on the team, Kara and Shelly.

Steve finishing leg #2, handing off to G.

After leg #2, Steve decided he needed a beer!

"Shelly, you'd better be at the exchange!"
Shelly kept threatening to not be at the exchange....her last leg was her hardest and she kept saying she wasn't going to be there! She was!! :)

GO MARK!!

I am almost finished! I was runner #1 and this was my last of 3 legs.

Handing off to Shelly.

Shelly getting a beer from Enterprise Guy as she gives him the baton!

Gary throwing Steve the baton....you can see the red baton if you look closely, flying in the air. Steve didn't catch the baton and owed the entire team a beer at the end!

Steve is running down that HUGE hill......

He handed off to G, for his last of 3 legs.

Cary handing off to Mark. G needed to get more miles in, so he ran Cary's last leg with him and also Mark's.

G leading Mark to the finish....the blue team is close behind! Mark ran GREAT and didn't allow the blue team to beat us!
