Potty Trained
Do I dare say it....Ben is potty trained! We started the process on Saturday March 26. We went right to big boy underwear and haven't looked back....well I did in the beginning! His teachers at school have said they think he just needed to be put into underwear. I was reluctant, but am SO glad we did! Both Monday and Tuesday Ben didn't have any accidents. Yesterday at school he told his teachers 3 times when he had to poop. He wears a pull-up at night (well for now diapers until we run out) and has been dry every nap since we started this. I am beyond excited! I traveled to Arkansas over the weekend and the car ride is about 5.5 hours. BOTH there and back, Ben stayed dry! He even told me when he had to pee/poop and we stopped. I cannot believe it. This is what worked with Ben: 1. Setting a timer and saying, "The timer went off, it's time to go potty." 2. We did not ASK if he had to go, we TOLD him it was time. 3. The first week we did this every 45 minutes to an hour and watched him like a hawk for signs he needed to pee (doing the potty dance, grabbing himself, hiding to poop). 4. He had a few poopy accidents, but has gotten the hang of it....we are working on wiping now, but as we have found with Henry, that is a LONG process! 5. We started out celebrating everytime he would pee/poop in the potty, moved to celebrating everytime he TOLD us he had to and then did so on the toliet, and now we are celebrating when he has no accidents that day. I can't believe my little baby boy, who yes I know is almost 3, is such a big boy! AND he is riding a real bike with training wheels....where did time go?
