**NOTE** G and I are now sick.....so it's just a matter of time before Henry gets this swine flu. It's hard trying to entertain 2 kids while you feel like poop!
October 4, 2003 was our wedding day. Yet the story of Kara & Gregg goes back to February of 2002. You may already know the story, or you may not know all of it. In honor of our 6th anniversary, I will share it once again:
Gregg (G) and I both went to Drury College (now Drury University) in Springfield, MO. Being 4.5 years apart in age, we didn't actually attend Drury at the same time, yet Drury is (or at least was) a small school and we knew the same people. We both happen to go back to Drury for Homecoming in February 2002. Here we were "reintroduced" and got the chance to hang out for the weekend events. We realized we both lived in St. Louis and continued our friendship here with mountain biking and other fun things around St. Louis. (Including helping me move a very heavy couch with a hide-a-bed from my Maplewood apartment to my Claytonia apartment AND the infamous night at the boats which neither of us wanted to go and gamble, but went because we thought that was what the other really wanted to do!)
After lots of hanging out and realizing we both liked one another, we started dating. Not really sure when this "officially" took place, but sometime in the early spring. I realized quite early on that I REALLY liked G, but didn't really want to let him know this. I had a feeling he liked me, seeing as I went to FL for my spring break trip and while I was gone, he completely cleaned my Jeep, even taking out the seats. When I came back, I felt like I had a brand new Jeep! I knew then he must kind of like me!
Fast forward to September. We took a trip to Aspen, CO to see some of G's friends from Drury. Little did I know that a ring was packed in G's bag. On September 2, 2002 on our car ride from Aspen to Denver (along Independance Pass) G pulled over so I could use the rest of my film (we didn't have a digital camera!). In my head the spot looked like a scene from the movie A River Runs Through It when they are fly-fishing. G told me to walk out onto a big rock so he could take my picture, I did. Next thing I know he is next to me, on one knee and about to fall into the river! I was so excited! We didn't get cell phone service until we were closer to Denver, so for about 1 hour, it was just us. We set a date for the next October. Our 13 month engagement was great and I am glad we had a longer one since our "courtship" was on the shorter side.
I love you G.....more than I did 6 years ago. Thank you for being the best husband and father. Henry and Ben are very lucky to have you as their Dad. Happy Anniversary....we will be sure to remember this one!
