Birthday Boy

At 12:56 on Tuesday May 13, 2008, our little sweet Benton August Mohrmann made his way into the world. After 15 hours of labor he decided to make his grand entrance just 26 minutes after my water really broke! (Either I had TWO bags of water and one broke the night before which sent us to the hospital and the other broke at 12:30pm the next day, or there was ONE bag that broke high sending us to the hospital and then REALLY broke at 12:30pm.) Either way I am thankful for being at the hospital with an epidural and doctors and nurses versus being on Highway 40 on our way to St. John's!

Our little Benton was 8 lbs. 2 oz and 20 3/4 inches long. He was perfect! As of his 2 year check-up yesterday, he is 32 lbs. and 3 feet tall. STILL PERFECT! He has the "Kraner Head" which is off the charts large and requires a remeasure in 6 months. Since his cognitive development is all normal, Dr. Z is not worried (with this history of HUGE heads in my family) but wants to check him again in 6 months. He is also in need of his second HEP A shot which we were 6 days too early to get it yesterday. Little man has been snoring lots and still has problems with congestion that the daily does of Claritin isn't really helping. So, we are calling Dr. C this afternoon to set up an appointment with him. This is the same pediatric ENT who took out Henry's tonsils in July 2008.

I can't believe my baby boy is 2 today. He is such a sweetie! He let me rock and cuddle with him the other night before bed. Probably the last time, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

A few things Ben has been up to lately:

• Ben loves to ride his bike. He is always asking to go "side" to ride "my bi."
• Ben sometimes refuses to eat dinner.....he would rather be the little jokster and try to get Henry to laugh instead of eat dinner.
• Ben loves to drink milk and will ask "more milk peas" about 6 times at each meal.
• Ben loves to say thank you and it sounds like "dan dou."
• Ben likes to feed Turbo and if any pieces of food drop in the floor or get out of her bowl, he is obsessed with getting them all back into her bowl.
• Ben loves to snuggle....he loves to do this with Daddy in church and at random times with Mommy. He let me snuggle with him the other night before bed and it totally made my day!
• Ben loves shoes and likes to wear other peoples shoes.
• Ben likes to put everything into either the trash or the dirty clothes, including things (shoes) that DO NOT belong in the dirty clothes or the trash!
• Ben sleeps in his "big boy bed" which is his crib without the slide-down side. His crib "transforms" into a toddler bed. We tried it last night....HE LOVES IT! He crawled into his bed when it was bedtime, said "ni-ni Mama" and slept all night long. When I went up to check on him this morning, he was reading quietly in his bed! Such a different transition than we had with Henry going from crib to big boy bed!
• Ben loves apples and eats most of it, including some seeds.
• Ben can successfully get out of his high chair.
• Ben loves to climb, which is one of the main reasons I decided to try the toddler bed. I didn't want a repeat of Henry jumping out of the crib.
• Ben loves his big brother and calls him "YaYa." We aren't sure where the name came from, but it's pretty cute.
• Ben follows Henry around and copies EVERYTHING that he does.

I could go on and on....but I'll stop! I will post pictures tonight. So far today Ben has had a good day. He got to start if off eating chocolate chip pancakes and eggs.....while being naked!!
